A great siding material adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of your home. It adds color and defines the look of your home from the outside. There are different Types of Siding Materials available in the market.  Depending on what goes well with the overall design of your home, you can choose a siding material which is not only good looking but is also durable, water resistant, easy to install and versatile.

Some of the common siding materials are listed below:

Vinyl

Vinyl is considered to be the most popular siding material for homeowners. It is not very expensive and has low maintenance. To add to that it has good aesthetic appeal, once installed you need not have to paint your house every 2-3 years. It is available in a variety of styles and colors. Vinyl siding is easy to install and lasts for many years. And whenever it gets dirty or discolored, you can get it power washed and it’ll be as good as new.

Wood

Wood siding is a classic material and one of the oldest siding options available. It is available in many styles such as clapboard, shakes, shingles or lap. While installing wood siding you need to make sure that you protect it from moisture. It is advisable to do priming to the backside of wood and install it over a house wrap. If maintained well, a cedar wood siding can last for over 50 years. But remember, wood sidings require a lot of maintenance.

Aluminium

Aluminum siding is prone to dents. It has been used as a siding material for quite some time as compared to vinyl, which is relatively new to the market. Aluminum siding is available in various colors than vinyl. Just like vinyl, aluminum siding comes in strips and has perforated holes at the top. You can choose to repaint aluminum over a period of time if you intend to change the look of the house.

Cement Fibre

This siding material comes the closest to a wood siding material. It has a wooden finish to it and there are options of trim and millwork pieces to provide design detail for the home. Cement fiber siding is available in different styles such as stucco panel styles, and beveled siding. It is usually primed or pre-finished. Unlike wood, it easy to maintain cement fiber siding, which is why most manufacturers give a warranty of 50 years or so.
