5 Ways To Design Your Kid’s Room

Updated: Nov 25, 2022

When it comes to your kids, you always want to give them the best. Be it education, upbringing, clothes, food, values, and even their rooms, you want to ensure that you are doing everything possible to bring them up comfortably.

Your child’s room is an integral part of your home. It is also the place where your child will end up spending the maximum amount of his/her time. So it goes without saying that their room has to be exciting. But, planning your kids room décor can be tricky. It can be hard to crack the code to impress your kids with an awesome room. Our top 5 design tips can help solve your predicament:

1) Pick a Story

Every child has a favorite story. For some it is the Harry Potter story, for others, it could be the Arabian Nights or the Duck Tales. Choose a story which your children love and make it the theme of their room. You can either use creative wall stickers of the relevant theme or get your Alberta home renovator to paint the walls as per your requirement. This idea is bound to get your children delighted.

2) Think Like a Child

The problem with most of us is that once we come of age we tend to lose our inner child. We grow up way beyond to understand the personalities of our children. You can use this opportunity of planning your kids’ room décor to bring out the inner child in you. Think like a child to find out what your kids would like. Understand their favorite color, interests and inspirations. You will then be in a better position to design their rooms.

3) Have a Gender-neutral Design

Parents have been obsessed with pink for girls’ rooms for ages now and it’s time we change that trend. It’s always good to make your child’s room gender neutral for two reasons: a) your child will grow really fast and if you have an overly girly, pink room and there could be a point when she begins to dislike the decor and b) you might just have another child in the years to come and if that’s a boy then you have to start over all over again. Instead, if the room is gender neutral it could be more functional.

4) Use an Area Rug

An area rug is a must have to keep your room warm and cozy during those chilly winter days. It adds to the whole look and feel of the room making it more inviting for kids. These days, there are different patterns of area rugs available in the market. From prints of cars, bikes, baseball to unicorns and animal prints, there are different styles of area rugs available for your kids’ room.
